What Is Bonding?
Bonding is a cosmetic service that can restore the appearance of chipped, cracked, discolored, or misarranged teeth quickly and with minimal interference to the underlying tooth structure. Bonding offer lower cost and better color-matching than veneers, but isn’t as durable and is more prone to staining. Bonding lasts 3-5 years before needing to be replaced.
During a bonding procedure, the tooth is prepared by lightly etching the surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, a plastic resin is applied and sculpted into the desired shape. Once set, the resin is trimmed, smoothed and polished to a natural appearance.
How Long Will The Process Take?
The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single office visit, and can improve the appearance of a tooth significantly. Bonding is a great choice if you are interested in fixing a cosmetic issue for lower cost with less permanence than porcelain veneers. Your Cocoa Beach dentist will work with you to determine whether bonding is the right approach for your cosmetic dentistry needs.
